COVID 19 FAQs

In planning for a year of coping with the COVID-19 virus in the world, here are some questions and answers related to the topic. In light of COVID-19 pandemic, Masa Israel Teaching Fellows continued their enormous impact on Israeli society. With the help of the Online Digital Platform, MITF fellows were able to make the transition from the classroom to online, and back, with little interruption. Even during times that our fellows were not in the classrooms having face to face interactions with students, English learning continued virtually, thanks to the incredible dedication of our fellows! Masa Israel Teaching Fellows has designed virtual teaching approach for all fellows, during even the most complex of times.

Will there be a mandatory quarantine upon arriving in Israel?

We are in close contact with Israel’s Ministry of Health regarding the COVID-19 virus. As the status requires a mandatory 14-day quarantine for those arriving from abroad, MITF fellows will enter a mandatory quarantine immediately upon arriving provided by the program organizer.

Will Masa Israel cancel the program due to the Coronavirus?

At the moment, all relative bodies invested and implanting MITF are preparing for the upcoming year. We are preparing for a full 10-month program, and applying all restrictions and guidelines implemented by the MOH.

Should there be an unforeseen reason regarding the opening of the program, our program organizers will be in contact with you.

Are Israeli schools still going to be open for Fall 2020?

We are in extremely close contact with the ministry at all times! Schools intend to open in the fall of 2020 as planned!

Since Israeli Consulates are closed, how will we obtain our visas?

If the borders to Israel are still closed to non-Israelis, how will we get into the country?

We are pleased to announce that Masa Israel Journey fellows are eligible for a special Masa visa! Your program organizer will submit the relative documents to The Population and Immigration Authority, who will then authorize and send your individual entry. Your program organizer will send you this permit before your arrival in Israel. Upon landing at the airport, you will be asked to present the permit in order to receive an entry visa into the country. Due to current circumstances, your special Masa Visa will be managed by your program organizer and sent to you before your arrival.

Despite coronavirus measures, Masa students will be able to enter Israel

Dealing with Corona during the year :

What will happen if there is another wave in the fall? How will MITF handle this?

In the event that there is a second wave in the fall, fellows will join their host teachers in distant learning. Our Masa Israel Teaching Fellows Pedagogical Toolbox is rich in activities, lesson plans, and teaching strategies for all ages!  Fellows will be asked to create a weekly schedule, together with their host teacher, and work with students online.

We are continuously monitoring the situation and in contact with the Ministry of Education at all times and work strictly under their approval and recommendations.

What precautions are in place for us to ensure our health and safety while on the program?

All Masa fellows are expected to cooperate and behave according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health. This means, but is not limited to, personal hygiene (washing hands often), smart distances, and the wearing of masks.

I was teaching abroad when the pandemic struck. Here’s why I chose to stay in Israel.
