Ramle-Lod

Ramle-Lod Operated by Israel Way – Oranim Project

About Us
Founded in 1986 as a company geared toward the young Jewish traveler, Israel Way-Oranim Project has grown into one of Israel’s premiere educational tourism provider.

Oranim develops unique travel curricula based on the communality of the Jewish people. We believe that travel to Israel is an integral part of building a strong Jewish identity.

In 2011, Oranim was acquired by Egged Tours, a subsidiary of Egged Cooperative, the leading public transportation operator in Israel and one of the largest public transportation companies in the world. With this acquisition comes a force of new leadership; Avraham Infeld joined the company as President. This new leadership combined with Oranim’s out-of-the-box thinking and the Egged Tours’ brand name will be a match made in heaven for Israel travel! The Israel programs alumni and participants have grown to love what is now known as Israel Way-Oranim Project.

About the City

One of the most at-risk communities, Ramle-Lod is place where you can make a huge impact. Ramle is located in central Israel with a mixed population of Jews and Arabs totaling nearly 63,500 residents; nearly 15,000 of the residents are immigrants from the Former Soviet Union and Ethiopia. This is the perfect place if you’re interested in diversity and coexistence. Walking the streets, you’ll experience a smorgasbord of amazing foods, encounter the vibrant shuk (outdoor market) and hear many different languages. One thing all the communities of Ramle-Lod have in common is their warmth; when you get here, you’ll be welcomed you with open arms and become part of the family.

As an Oranim Israel Teaching Fellow, you’ll belong to a much larger program. With anywhere from 250-300 Oranim participants located throughout Israel, you’ll make friends, enjoy your time, and have a life-changing experience.

In Ramle-Lod, you’ll see and feel the difference you make in the lives of your students. For the vast majority of children in the community, America is an imaginary place that exists solely in movies. For many children, to have a real relationship with Americans is a dream come true. Few of them have had the opportunity to travel abroad or even interact with native English speakers. By the end of your time, you’ll realize that you didn’t just teach English but you exposed underprivileged children to your culture and become a positive role model in their lives.

Why Choose Our Program?
As an Oranim Israel Teaching Fellow, you will teach and learn at the same time. Intensive ulpan (Hebrew lessons) will give you the tools you need to navigate Israel in the native tongue. You’ll explore Israel through numerous trips around the country.

The accommodations allow you the comfort of being with fellow participants while integrating yourself into the community. You’ll live in a great apartment with three other people, spread out throughout the community. You’ll find it easy to get around. Once you’re here, you’ll feel at home.
